Comparison Review: Scinic Honey All In One Ampoule vs Shara Shara Honey Bomb

The Scinic Honey All In One Ampoule and the Shara Shara Honey Bomb are two popular products that claim to combine the benefits of a toner, moisturizer and serum. You can read my review on the Shara Shara Honey Bomb here.
They also both contain three of the highlighted ingredients: Honey Extract, Royal Jelly Extract and Propolis Extract.

The Scinic All In One and the Shara Shara Honey Bomb both come in the these colored 250ml bottles. They are both made in Korea. The jars are about the same in structure and both did leak in the shipping process with seems to be a reoccurring issue with these types of bottles. The bottles are quite large so they are not good for traveling anyways.

The Scinic AIO (photo above) contains 90% honey extract (including propolis and royal jelly extract) while the Shara Shara Honey Bomb does not contain such a high amount. The Scinic AIO claims to promote elasticity of the skin, moisture, firming, whitening, anti-wrinkle and smoother texture.

The Shara Shara Honey Bomb (photo above) claims to whiten skin, anti-wrinkle, smooth the texture or skin and even out the skin tone. Both ampoule are good for 12 months after opening,

Ingredient list comparison:
The Scinic AIO has the honey, royal jelly and propolis extract much higher on the list than the Shara Shara Honey bomb. Niacinamide which is great for anti-aging and evening out skin tone and texture is third on both of the ingredient lists. The Shara Shara does appear to have fillers much higher on the list whereas the Scinic has extracts higher on the list. The Shara Shara Honey Bomb does contain Sea Buckthorn Berry Extract(Hippophae Rhiamnoides Fruit) which is great for preventing and treating sunburn, acne, and moisturizing dry skin. Both are packed with various herb, berry and floral extracts as seen in the extract lists above.

Price comparison:
Scinic AIO is more expensive at around $39 on eBay and $47 on Amazon. I believe this is due to the high demand of the product now being sold out on various sites. When I purchased the Scinic Honey AIO I believe it was around $23, but I know the price of it has been as low as $14 (not including shipping). The Shara Shara Honey Bomb is currently around $21 (koreadepart.com).

Effectiveness and Use comparison:
Both of these have a similar almost sticky light texture. It feels very light on the skin but leaves it a little bit sticky feeling. The Scinic Honey AIO feels a little more like a dry film on the skin while the Shara Shara feels like it is absorbed better into the skin. It is pretty noticeable several minutes after applying that the Scinic Honey AIO can still be felt on the skin like a thin mask that has dried, while the Shara Shara Honey Bomb has already dried. The finish is satin-like so not shiny or matte for either one. The smell of the Shara Shara is more honey-like whereas the Scinic Honey AIO is more strange smelling (like sour honey?), both have fragrance in the ingredients. I feel both of them have a brightening and moisturizing effect. I can't speak for the anti-aging or anti-wrinkle aspects, but both of these products leave my skin looking a lot more healthy and vibrant, likely because they are packed with various floral, leaf and root extracts.

For immediate effects, I think Shara Shara gives me a glow right away and my complexion doesn't look as tired after I have applied it and it has absorbed. I noticed my skin has been looking better and healthier after using the Scinic one for several weeks, but I did not see any immediate effects with the Scinic Honey All In One.

The Shara Shara may not be as potent as the Scinic Honey AIO but because it absorbs so well I have found different uses for it. I apply the Shara Shara Honey Bomb not only to my face but down to my neck and shoulders as well until the top of my chest. I also mix the Honey Bomb with a little bit of my heavier foundations (like the Estee Lauder Double Wear) and it adds a silky texture to matte foundations and makes them a little more sheer for every day wear. I've ever mixed it with dewy foundations to create my own cushion foundation formulation. I just used a teaspoon of YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat, a little bit of Estee Lauder Double Wear and a teaspoon of the Shara Shara Honey Bomb on a new cushion sponge to create my own cushion foundation.

Left: Scinic Honey All In One, Right: Shara Shara Honey Bomb
The Scinic Honey All In One is a lot more watery than the Shara Shara. The Shara Shara keeps its form well and absorbs better.

Conclusion:
Both of these have their good and bad aspects, but the bottom line is that the Scinic Honey AIO has a better ingredient list and the Shara Shara Honey Bomb is better formulated. With 90% honey extract in the Scinic Honey AIO I believe it is a clear winner, while the Shara Shara Honey Bomb is good, but had to sacrifice ingredients for a better formulation. Although I do like the Scinic one better due the the ingredients, I feel like the Shara Shara one is what I will reach for during the day. It absorbs well and pairs well with makeup, while the Scinic Honey AIO would feel too noticeable and ball up if I wore makeup with it on.

  1. Thank you for the review! You're the only blogger I could find who has done a side-by-comparison of the two ampoules. I've been debating about which one to get and it looks like I'm going with Scinic, since all the honey goodness is listed at the top of the ingredients.

  2. Awesome review! Even though the Shara Shara one is better for daytime use, I may stick to Scinic with all it's sticky glory, for ingredients' sake :)
